About the founder

Insider expertise, lived experience.

Navigating health insurance with a chronic illness is exhausting. I translate complex policy codes into plain English so you can protect your limited energy.

The dual path

Bridging policy and pain.

For fifteen years, I worked inside the insurance industry, learning how the gears turn. When my own MS diagnosis arrived, I had to learn the system all over again—this time, from the patient side of the desk.

Today, I combine professional policy credentials with lived patient reality. I help individuals secure coverage and teach healthcare organizations how to dismantle systemic barriers with empathy.

A note on the name

Spoon-Saver gets its name from Spoon Theory, which many people in the chronic illness community use to talk about managing limited energy each day. Christine Miserandino came up with this idea in 2003, and it has stayed important to the community ever since. If dealing with insurance paperwork is using up energy you can't afford to lose, that's exactly why this site is here.
